The Mixed Feelings TT

Happy, shocked, shy, sad and stressed too. Here goes the story.

I woke up at 9am and there's missed calls. I ignored it. Then when I'm on my way to College, someone called me. The caller is Rus and she said she get my number from my lecturer. She asked me to do my Industrial Training & working at her company and it should be A.S.A.P! She said she want me to send the CV by this week.  I was like, OH MY!! I never expect to get such an offer. I'm still studying and I haven't graduate yet. To do industrial training and working are never be in my new year resolution.

Happy. Why?

Didn't expect to get the offer suddenly. The company is a BIG name. Should I tell you?? Here
Why I'm so happy to get this offer from this company? Simply because I LOVE moolah! Big name, big income right? Madam Rus even ask me how much allowance they should give me. I said depends on them.

Shocked


Didn't expect them to called me. Who am I to work with the big name?

I am TOO surprised and nervous too because I never expect any company to call me, okay. Due to the nervousness, I don't know what am I talking about. I mumbled. My grammar? Here and there. I don't have any preparation at all. All the answers I'm given is such a crap :(


Sad


If I am employed by this company, that's mean I have to STAY here( MIRI). I have stress my mind to work at Sabah after I graduated but now? I want to be close to my parents and siblings. Miri is not far enough but it's different. I want to see them everyday. Being TRAPPED in MIRI for 2 years++ for my Diploma is too much for me and to be away from them somemore. How about working in MIRI permanently. Argghhhh!! I know I'm thinking TOO much.

Stressed


Madam Rus called me because she's going to tell me about the offer, right? Turned out it is just like an interview TT She asked me so many things and some of the question is from my last 2 years lesson. She asked me and I answer it with another thing. HELP~

3 weeks to go...

before the end of my 6th Semester. This 3 weeks is the most important time left for me to change my exam result. I'm going to start my revision starting today. It's not going to be easy considering the fact that I have 5 subjects for this semester. Safe Work Procedure, Emergency Response Plan, Office English, Machinery Safety and Occupational Stress please be good to me :D I'm not going to do the last minute revision anymore like what I used to do for the 5 Semesters. Although I've passed with flying colours in my finals but I'm not really happy with it. It's not that I'm not grateful with it, I find it a blessing from God. It's just that I think that the cramming is not a good thing. I have been thinking a lot lately. What is the purpose of studying @taking my Diploma in Safety and Health? Am I studying just want to pass the exam or it's because of the education itself( knowledge) ? I promise myself that I'm going to achieve both. I'm going to have a good result in my finals. Also, to obtain an appropriate knowledge and an adequate education for my field of study. I want to be a competent Safety and Health Officer. Wish me luck, okay? :)

Is this how it should be done in construction site?

I don't know but I'm pretty scared actually.

To do the safety briefing every morning with the construction worker which is mainly consist of the foreigners( PTI).

So, should I become choosy? Should I prefer to work at the high prestige workplace?

No. I'm not going to be choosy. 

To at least have a job no matter what industry should be fine. 

To work with the BIG companies such as SHELL or PETRONAS is seriously a bonus.(I love moolah)

Be it a construction, Oil and gas, Agriculture or anything. 

Whatever. 

As long as I will receive my payment at the end of the month ;))

MONDAY

Safe Work Procedure presentation. Messed up and all over the place. I'm glad am able to answer the lecturer question regarding to the presentation topic which is

" The effect if there's no national and international body in regulating the safety and health?"

The question is pretty easy but due to my nervousness, I didn't managed to answer it WELL. Yeah, I am the perfectionist. My answer is this


" The organisation will lost focus, no sense of direction and will not be able to implement the safety and health effectively"

How I wished I could think deeply and adding the law and other things to make a BETTER answer.

At the end of the day, I received a good news. My bro and I got the highest mark for this subject assignment for our batch :D

TUESDAY


Office English presentation. While I was presenting, I heard the Mr. KnowItAll who's sitting really close to where I stand during the presentation LAUGH and I can see the SMIRK on his face as I delivering my words. Isn't it so STUPID? Strangely, I manage to ignore him. Motive? He's jealous of my performance? He want destroy my presentation?

I don't know. He should know the answer. I think he's born to be RUDE.


I'm not going to think about him anymore because he's not worth my time.


After all, the lecturer said that I have a good knowledge of my topic and a good confidence too.

BTW, 3 presentation to go :))

Laws & Regulations?

I'm going to be SHO, but how in earth am I going to read, interpret it in my own words and presenting it to the whole class tomorrow? I know this is a group presentation but still I have my own topic and the group members having their own laws to do too such as the OSHA 1994, FMA 1967, OSHAS 18001, etc. Mine is HSE( Health and Safety Executive) T_T

I'm sleepy and am not well prepared yet. I'm afraid if my classmates asking TOO much questions about it.
( esp. the ex-student of law who might having fun tomorrow because of the law thingy which is his major last time)

Case Study

What a great case study for environmental safety. As you can see from the picture, the experts is doing the cleaning job by using absorbent paper to absorb the diesel from the water source.

The question is "how safe is safe enough for the water to be consume?" I don't know but according to them, it is safe after 3 days. Is it?

Setting an OSHMS?

How to set@ implement an Occupational Safety and Health Management System( OSH-MS) in your workplace?

To begin with:

1)  Safety and health Officer( SHO) must be clear, understand the applicable law, regulation or legislation( OSHA 1994, FMA 1974).  *sections and subsections*

2) Ensure that the Organisation policy is concurrent with what I've stated in *1 and is communicated throughout the organisation.

P: Policy
O: Organizing
P: Planning
E: Evaluation
A: Action for improvement

3)  Refer to the local guidelines such as DOSH or any international bodies such as ILO/ ISO

4) It is important that the SHO ensure the involvement of all the OSH management workers( department)

5) After all the process done( with the analytical process 4W1H taken in), it can be drafted out and lay it within the organisation.
