Tapau this picture from my friend fb.
Is this how it should be done in construction site?
I don't know but I'm pretty scared actually.
To do the safety briefing every morning with the construction worker which is mainly consist of the foreigners( PTI).

So, should I become choosy? Should I prefer to work at the high prestige workplace?
No. I'm not going to be choosy.
To at least have a job no matter what industry should be fine.
To work with the BIG companies such as SHELL or PETRONAS is seriously a bonus.(I love moolah)
Be it a construction, Oil and gas, Agriculture or anything.
Whatever.
As long as I will receive my payment at the end of the month ;))

How is goes? My presentation.

MONDAY

Safe Work Procedure presentation. Messed up and all over the place. I'm glad am able to answer the lecturer question regarding to the presentation topic which is

" The effect if there's no national and international body in regulating the safety and health?"

The question is pretty easy but due to my nervousness, I didn't managed to answer it WELL. Yeah, I am the perfectionist. My answer is this

" The organisation will lost focus, no sense of direction and will not be able to implement the safety and health effectively"

How I wished I could think deeply and adding the law and other things to make a BETTER answer.

At the end of the day, I received a good news. My bro and I got the highest mark for this subject assignment for our batch :D

TUESDAY

Office English presentation. While I was presenting, I heard the Mr. KnowItAll who's sitting really close to where I stand during the presentation LAUGH and I can see the SMIRK on his face as I delivering my words. Isn't it so STUPID? Strangely, I manage to ignore him. Motive? He's jealous of my performance? He want destroy my presentation?

I don't know. He should know the answer. I think he's born to be RUDE.

I'm not going to think about him anymore because he's not worth my time.

After all, the lecturer said that I have a good knowledge of my topic and a good confidence too.

BTW, 3 presentation to go :))

Laws & Regulations?

I'm going to be SHO, but how in earth am I going to read, interpret it in my own words and presenting it to the whole class tomorrow? I know this is a group presentation but still I have my own topic and the group members having their own laws to do too such as the OSHA 1994, FMA 1967, OSHAS 18001, etc. Mine is HSE( Health and Safety Executive) T_T

Currently reading,
Health and Safety Executive
HSE, UK
HSAW, Act 1974

..and now my head feels ssssoooooo heavy, maybe because of all of the reading thingy which making me suffocated. I don't know how should I do it tomorrow. I mean, presenting the law. Rasa macam bukan Safety course bah, tapi macam Law course suda.

Haish!

I'm sleepy and am not well prepared yet. I'm afraid if my classmates asking TOO much questions about it.
( esp. the ex-student of law who might having fun tomorrow because of the law thingy which is his major last time)

Wish me luck for my "Law" presentation tomorrow.
Going to update later on how is it going.
T____T!

Have a pleasant night, peeps.

Case Study

What a great case study for environmental safety. As you can see from the picture, the experts is doing the cleaning job by using absorbent paper to absorb the diesel from the water source.

The question is "how safe is safe enough for the water to be consume?" I don't know but according to them, it is safe after 3 days. Is it?

Setting an OSHMS?

How to set@ implement an Occupational Safety and Health Management System( OSH-MS) in your workplace?

To begin with:

1)  Safety and health Officer( SHO) must be clear, understand the applicable law, regulation or legislation( OSHA 1994, FMA 1974).  *sections and subsections*

2) Ensure that the Organisation policy is concurrent with what I've stated in *1 and is communicated throughout the organisation.

*Take note of the POPEA:

P: Policy
O: Organizing
P: Planning
E: Evaluation
A: Action for improvement

3)  Refer to the local guidelines such as DOSH or any international bodies such as ILO/ ISO

4) It is important that the SHO ensure the involvement of all the OSH management workers( department)

5) After all the process done( with the analytical process 4W1H taken in), it can be drafted out and lay it within the organisation.

I was torn between choices

1 Semester left before I'm going to graduate from College. Nowadays, I've been thinking a lot about my future. So, today, I've asked my lecturer about the field of work in Safety and Health. He is now working as a part time lecturer at my College and he's currently working at Petronas as a Safety and Health Executive.

I asked him about the gender discrimination at the workplace because last time I got this offer from the local plantation company at Sabah to work as SHO but they asked me if I'm capable enough to work with them as the company is dominated by men. They manager even said to me that why I'm choosing this field of study as it is not suitable for women?huh? I was like duh?! My lecturer said that it doesn't matter with the gender anyway.

I think I'm not going to work in the plantation industry as I've made up my mind to either work in O&G, Construction or Shipping Industry.

Next question, about my Diploma. I'm not really sure if I'm able to have a job once I graduate with only diploma in my hand. I mean, look at the market. Now, one can obtain SHO certificate from the certificate program conducted by local institution and it will  only take 1 month to have it. I wonder if I should take it or not but my lecturer said I will only wasting my time and money as my diploma is good enough that I don't need the certificate anymore but to be safe, he recommended me to further my study to a higher level which is the 1st Degree. I think I have to forget about it first due to my budget constraints TT

He also stated that Safety & Health is actually very BIG because I can have a various career prospects such as a Safety and Health officer, HSE (advisors, manager, coordinator, consultants), Industrial Hygienist,Toxicologist and so on. What matter the most is how I choose it.

So,my plan now is to get a job first and work for at least 3 years to obtain the Green book. At the same time, maybe I will further my study as a part timer at OUM. Actually, deep inside my heart, I really want to work overseas :D especially at the middle east. Why? The income is VERY good mah. Gila duit?Yes, I am. Eventho some people said that it is a very risky job but come to think of it,every job pun is very risky right? But I need to have another certificate if I want to work overseas which is the NEBOSH. Haishhh. I'm confused!

~Any advice?

Unsafe Act While Using The Toilet

Sometimes when we're going to the public toilet/ toilet on the shopping complex, we will ALWAYS encounter this situation...

It's contaminated and dirty right and of course we're not going to sit on it. Normally, what people would do is that they're going to repeat the same action including me myself ;( before I know about this before. Who else willing sit on it?

Actually, when we squatting on the seated toilet, we actually exposed ourself to physical hazard. Why? The porcelain is basically made in China,so quality based we already know about it right? Also, the porcelain is NOT DESIGN to support our full@ concentrated body weight and it can broke up.

Precaution action:

-Don't ever squat in seated toilet.
-If you don't want contact with the toilet bowl surface, you could always cover it with tissue;
-Wash/ clean it with clean water

This is what I always do:

Squat as if you are about to sit but do not sit. Get as close to the bowl as you can, and as far back as you can but beware that your thigh can sometimes get sore ;). I think this is the easiest and safest method. At first it might be difficult and tiring but believe me, after a few times of practices, you'll get better :)

There's this one accident occur in result of the toilet seat that is broke and that women is badly injured This happened in 2006 but I still think I should share it as it is just for our general knowledge.
